Toronto Shoreline   The Phoenix Association - Toronto HELP

  Joining Us

Please read the following carefully before attending an Orientation Meeting.
If you are interested in finding out more about The Phoenix Association we invite you to attend our monthly orientation on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00pm.

New members must come out for an orientation meeting.

Here is what you can expect at the Orientation Meeting:
  • The purpose of Orientation is to introduce you to our organization and explain what you can expect in terms of social events and the self help meetings we offer to members. We are available to answer any questions you might have about our group.
  • Most people find it extremely beneficial to come out to a meeting and appreciate the chance to relate to, and talk with others in the same boat. The most prevalent comment we hear from new members is that they felt as if they “were not alone” after meeting others with herpes. Additionally, you will leave with complimentary up-to-date information on herpes. We make The Truth about Herpes by Dr. Stephen Sacks available for purchase.
  • You will meet with the Phoenix Association committee and other new members.
  • If you choose to you may join our association. The annual membership fee is $35.00.
  • If you join you may begin attending events right away. Self Help follows immediately after orientation so please consider making yourself available until 10 pm that evening.

What we Do Not do
We are not doctors and therefore cannot diagnose, or prescribe any particular course of action. We can however share from our own experience as people that have herpes, and suggest alternative sources of information. The best place to ask medical or physical questions is at the Self Help Meeting, not at Orientation.

Occasionally, and for some a new case of herpes can emotionally devastating. Sometimes people experiencing a heightened level or distress may need more emotional or psychological support than an Orientation and Self Help Meeting can offer. If you feel as if this might describe your situation then please call us first at our main number before coming out.
