Viridae Clinical Sciences Inc.
Until his death in 2003, Dr. Stephen Sacks headed Viridae Clinical Sciences, a Canadian company involved in antiviral research and testing, including herpes research and clinical testing. Dr. Sacks’ book The Truth About Herpes, is both comprehensive and accurate. Viridae is now closed but Dr. Sacks’ book is still available in most public libraries and bookstores, or you may order it from the publisher, Gordon Soules Book Publishers Ltd.
American Social Health Association (ASHA)
ASHA hosts the National Herpes Resource Center (HRC). Since 1979 the HRC has focused on increasing education, public awareness, and support to anyone concerned about herpes.
HELP Groups
ASHA/HRC also has an affiliated network of local support (HELP) groups for people concerned about herpes simplex virus. The groups provide a safe, confidential environment where participants can get accurate information and share experiences, fears, and feelings with others who are concerned about herpes. HRC maintains a list of HELP groups. Many of the HELP groups have web sites. Besides Toronto, there are web sites for: Melbourne, Kansas City, Washington, and Omaha. The Omaha website resides on the Yoshi2Me site, a social and support network alliance. You can also find nother lists of HELP groups here and here.

You can use this site to find a wealth of information related to clinical trials, such as a listing of more than 41,000 industry- and government-sponsored clinical trials as well as new drug therapies recently approved by the FDA. The site is designed to be a resource both for patients interested in participating in clinical trials and for research professionals.
